Parent Consultations
A consultation consists of meeting with parents who are interested in better understanding their child’s literacy needs. Consultations are both for parents who want to engage an eager reader and for those who need to pinpoint a child’s academic challenges.
I will meet with you and your child to provide an interview and informal reading assessment. The consultation will last about an hour to an hour and a half. This service includes a follow-up conversation and specific recommendations on how to best service the child’s needs.
Workshops for Parents
The Reading Brain
From pre-reading to engaged reader – we will examine the activity occurring within a child’s brain when they learn to read. We will discuss what to expect and when and how to engage or assist your child.
Strength Builder
How to identify your child’s academic strengths and build on them. Parents and caregivers will answer questions about their child/children to find his or her academic strengths. Then they will find ways to best model learning behaviors for their child to meet their needs.
